Visual Basic .NET is an object-oriented computer programming language that can be viewed as an evolution of the classic Visual Basic (VB), which is implemented on the .NET Framework. Visual Basic .NET (VB.NET or VB .NET) is a version of Microsoft's Visual Basic that was designed, as part of the company's .NET product group, to make Web services applications easier to develop. Note that VB.NET is not an extension of classic VB. It was reengineered, rather than released as VB 6.0 with added features. VB.NET is the first fully object-oriented programming (OOP) version of Visual Basic, and as such, supports OOP concepts such as abstraction, inheritance, polymorphism, and aggregation. Visual Basic .NET comes with thousands of built-in classes which are ready to be used. So it is easier to write in VB.net than Visual Basic once you learn how to use .net framework. It contains the ease of visual basic and the power of object oriented programming with a huge .net class library. Like in VB, you don't need to write any code to create Graphical User Interfaces, rather you can just drag and drop the UI elements on to a form. Knowing how to program in C or, better yet, C++, will certainly help you to learn VB.net more quickly. We recommend you to go through the courses C and C++ before starting this course. You don't need to know anything about Object Oriented Programming to start this course.
